diiVe Summer 2021: Harvard Student Reflections

September 30, 2021

Several Harvard college students supported by the Harvard Center for African Studies’ student grant fund, as well as the Office of Career Services, attended a diiVe consulting internship. diiVe is a global learning and consulting organization dedicated to developing students' agency and employability. Over the five-week consulting project, students tackled challenges for small startups, working with large global companies and employing the skills they learned in virtual teams mentored and coached by the diiVe team. This summer, students developed financial lending products for female entrepreneurs across Sub-Saharan Africa, and built a waste reduction strategy for one of the largest retailers in South Africa. They also tackled systemic problems in the country’s education system by evaluating and testing a new online, affordable high school − to name just a few.

Students presented their solutions to partner organizations’ executive teams, boards, funders, and key stakeholders. Across the 11 projects we managed, our partners were blown away by our professionalism, speed at which our diiVers worked, as well as the innovativeness and quality of the work delivered. One partner shared, “the in-depth and thorough market analysis, competitor analysis, and go-to-market strategy was of such quality that we as a company are looking forward to implementing it straight-away.”
