In December, Department of Sociology and Social Policy doctoral candidate, Blythe George (Yurok), became the first Native American to have her dissertation pass at the Harvard Kennedy School. The title of her dissertation was, Tribal Lands, Tribal Men and Tribal Responsibilities: World Renewal Fathers with Criminal Records and Their Perceptions of Work and Fatherhood On and Off-Reservation.
While many other Native American students have been awarded a PhD from Harvard, Blythe will be the first to do so from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Her presentation was attended by friends, colleagues, scholars, HUNAP staff,and with additional community members who were able to livestream the talk.
